What is a SHORT STORY?

1. A short story is a work of fiction that is usually written in prose, often in narrative format.
2. A short story, brief fictional prose narrative that is shorter than a novel and that usually deals with only a few characters.
3. A short story is a prose writing about imagined events and characters. 


5 ELEMENTS OF SHORT STORY

1. Character - A character is a person, or sometimes even an animal, who takes part in the action of a short story or other literary work.
2. SettingThe setting of a short story is the time and place in which it happens. Authors often use descriptions of landscape, scenery, buildings, seasons or weather to provide a strong sense of setting.
3. Plot -A plot is a series of events and character actions that relate to the central conflict.
4. ConflictThe conflict is a struggle between two people or things in a short story. The main character is usually on one side of the central conflict. On the other side, the main character may struggle against another important character, against the forces of nature, against society, or even against something inside himself or herself (feelings, emotions, illness).
5. ThemeThe theme is the central idea or belief in a short story.

Simple Interpretation of the Story " Footnote to Youth" where in the readers will have an overview on what the story all about. Try to reflect in the video. This is just a way on giving the youth a warning about early marriage.
